- Severt A. Haverhals, 85, of Sioux Center died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Stephen Rhoda officiating. Interment will be prior to the memorial service at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
A prayer service will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. The Haverhals Family prefers memorials to The Bible League or Chears Home Health & Hospice.
Sebrect Cornelius Haverhals was born May 21, 1921 to Adriaan and Clara (Glimmerveen) Haverhals at rural Hawarden, Iowa. He attended school at the Eagle Township Country School through the eighth grade.
On February 12, 1947, Severt was united in marriage to Grace Jeanette Vander Lugt at the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church of Lebanon, Iowa. The couple then farmed for the next 42 years in the Lebanon area. In 1989, Severt and Grace moved to Sioux Center. Severt was a longtime member of the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church and was currently a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.
Severt enjoyed farming and working with his hands. He could often be found working with stained glass and playing cards. He and Grace went on many bus trips together. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family.
